- Communities have long embedded the importance of certain environmental practices within their values, laws, and codes. Today, we even have international documents such as the Stockholm Declaration that recognize the universal right to a healthy environment.
2019 Billion Acts Awardee Our Children’s Trust is a non-profit public interest law firm that provides strategic, campaign-based legal services to youth from diverse backgrounds to secure their legal rights to a safe climate. Their most famous case began with a Northwest PeaceJammer Kelsey Juliana and her case Juliana v. United States. The case argued that through the government's affirmative actions that cause climate change, it has violated the youngest generation’s constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property.
