At 13, Zainab Bie became aware of poverty and the climate crisis. Now 17, she has completed the United Nations Young Leaders Training Programme and is the youngest person ever to qualify for the LEED Green Associate exam.
Through her tireless efforts and hard work, she helped her school become a ‘Single-Use Plastic Free Zone’ and created the SDG era - a youth-led initiative and platform to give the youth of India a vision and way to work towards creating a more sustainable future together.
She has been selected for the Youth Forum of the UNCTAD quadrennial ministerial conference (UNCTAD15) where Zainab negotiated with the UN Officials to seek a concrete decade of action in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals. She is also the Member and India Representative at the Commonwealth Youth Climate Change Network (CYCN) and one of 30 youth leaders who were trained by UNITAR, under the young leaders Training Program.
